The Definitions tab allows the creation and
editing of the records that represent things
, groups of
things and the places where they live, in much the same way that
the Users tab allows the editing of the records that
represent users and accounts.
In CORAL, the items that can generate activity records are equipment, supplies (inventory), subscriptions, and staff time. Each of these items exists within a lab, and at least equipment also exists within an area, a hierarchical arrangement of equipment reflected in the equipment tab.
For each of these types of record, you will first select an existing record from the pull-down menu (if there are few enough) or the suggest box (if there are too many options for a pull-down menu), or create a new item using the Create a New Record button. Then edit the record as much or as little as you like, and press either Save to save the changes, or Cancel to choose another record to edit.
